So, you know how when you do spawn, you see the little red diamonds and you're just like "Ughhhhhh." Well, it turns out there are some monsters that you probably shouldn't skip. So I noticed when Labyrinth came out that someone pointed out the monster Nemain. Now, Nemain reforges from Banshee, a rare. You wouldn't think much of it, but then you should look at its ability. Now I'm going to start with two unique monsters that have abilities I can't seem to find. So, lets get too it.
Unique
Banshee
Yes, Banshee. So far from updates we have seen no monster with a skill like hers. Lets take a look.
"Increases MATK/MDEF of all allies by 20% and increases magic Ability Power by 15 for 60 seconds. Level bonus: Effect boosted by 5% (5 for magic Ability Power) for each increase in Skill level. "
Now than, if you don't understand the second part of the ability, I understand. I actually didn't get it at first either.
Addendum: I don't want to type it all again since they concept is still the same, but I've been told that this only buff magic abilities. Same concept, just only on magical ones.
But here's what it does. We all know the basic soldier ability: Smash, right? Well, it's base ability power is 120. Now throw one max skilled Banshee in, now that BASE ability power is 155. 155. The base skills power of 120 + Banshee's max level ability (35). Throw in two of them, that's a bonus of 70 now. We have a Smash, a basic Smash, at 190 base Ability power.
Base. That's before all the damage calculations and buffs from skills.
Do not sell this monster.
Kaava
Sounds like Guava. This is another monster where I haven't seen an ability similar too. And what is that ability?
"Reduces damage taken by all allies by 10% for 60 seconds. Level bonus: Effect boosted by 5% for each increase in Skill level. "
Reduces damage taken.
By all allies.
By 10%.
Effect boosted by 5% for each increase in Skill level.
For 60 seconds.
This is a 30% damage reduction at max level. 60% with 2 of them. Do I need to explain further?
Mermaid
Under the sea! Under the sea! Down where its wetter down where its … this is a kids song right?
“Ability Power 50. Heals HP of all allies. Added effect: Removes status ailments. Level bonus: Ability Power boosted by 5 for each increase in Skill level.”
She’s a flat heal, but comes with a status removal, which means she gets rid of blind, poison, paralysis and prohibit unison…. Which… is kind of pointless if you’re unisoning to remove unison. Hmm…
Surprisingly theres nothing to replace her unique cleanse, which I found while making this. Good to keep.
Less Unique but still may be worth keeping
Kin-ki
Doesn’t seem like it would be wouldn’t it? But let’s take a look.
“Ability Power 120. Damages all enemies with physical fire damage. Added effect: 30% chance to paralyze target for 60 seconds. Level bonus: Ability Power boosted by 5 for each increase in Skill level.”
It’s a small chance to paralyze, but it is a paralyze ability. It’s better than just straight power.
Medusa
We’ve all run into her, and at lower levels she’s annoying. But as a monster…
“Ability Power 90. Damages all enemies with magic dark damage. Added effect: 50% chance to paralyze target for 40 seconds. Level bonus: Ability Power boosted by 5 for each increase in Skill level.”
A much better paralyze chance than the other rare monster, though for 20 seconds less. Decisions up to you really.
Harpy
Wait, what. A normal. What’s a normal doing here? That’s because she reforges to SR. But also has…
“Ability Power 100. Damages all enemies with physical light damage. Added effect: 20% chance to paralyze target for 40 seconds. Level bonus: Ability Power boosted by 5 for each increase in Skill level.”
A wee bit weaker than some of the others may be. But its got paralysis, and it doesn’t rely on the gem spawn for you to get it.
What to replace them with:
Uhm…. Nothing to really replace her with just yet. Kind of surprised really. They're all interchangeable.
Kiki
You know, the delivery girl. She’s got a broom and a cat and yeah, no. Definitely not her. Goes to SR.
“Ability Power 100. Damages all enemies with magic dark damage. Added effect: 20% chance to confuse target for 40 seconds. Level bonus: Ability Power boosted by 5 for each increase in Skill level.”
Confusion! There’s nothing better than having a monster heal you.
Easily replaced with:
Leviathan
…. Isn’t he a dragon… where does… is the dragon his tail?
“Ability Power 130. Damages all enemies with magic water damage. Added effect: 35% chance to confuse target for 40 seconds. Level bonus: Ability Power boosted by 10 for each increase in Skill level.”
More power, increase chance, better level bonus and better stats. A bit harder to get though.
And unsure if harder to get or not:
Silver Dragon Avsaris
I’m sure you guys remember him, our first powerful UR event monster.
“Ability Power 150. Damages all enemies with physical water damage. Added effect: 35% chance to confuse target for 40 seconds. Removes stat buffs from target. Level bonus: Ability Power increased by 10 for each increase in Skill level.”
Even better than Leviathan! More damage, confusion, and removes stat buffs! Yaaayyy
Nyx
You can’t see how pretty she is…
“Reduces ATK and MDEF of all enemies by 20% for 60 seconds. Added effect: 40% chance to blind all enemies for 60 seconds. Level bonus: Effect boosted by 10% for each increase in Skill level.”
… because she blinds you.
And so does:
Poseidon
King of the sea?
“Ability Power 140. Damages all enemies with magic water damage. Added effect: 50% chance to blind target for 50 seconds. Level bonus: Ability Power boosted by 10 for each increase in Skill level.”
I personally prefer her over Nyx for GvG. I think you want to go for wipes, and you can use Metus and Ignis in order to do what she does and do damage.
These two are unique in their own way, don't have a weaker monster but ones not strictly better than the other. Still, they aren't unique in having a one of a kind rare ability, so it still falls under this category.
Inky
Aren't fairies/pixies supposed to be small?
“Heals all allies for 5% of their maximum HP every 5 seconds for 45 seconds. Level bonus: Effect boosted by 1% for each increase in Skill level.”
Pretty impressive heal (9% every 5 seconds), unsure whether or not she’s better than her replace.
Replaced with(?):
Cuchulain
You all probably know this guy by this point. If not, well you do now.
“Increases ATK/MATK of all allies by 10% for 60 seconds. Added effect: Heals all allies for 5% of their maximum HP every 5 seconds for 45 seconds. Level bonus: Effect boosted by 5% for each increase in Skill level. (No increase to added effect.)”
30% to ATK and MATK at max level. With a 5% heal each second. Just depends on if you want more heals or more damage.
Swelter Taurus
Moooooooo… oooo…. Oooo?
“Increases ATK/DEF of all allies by 20% and raises critical hit chance by 10% for 60 seconds. Level bonus: Both effects boosted by 5% for each increase in Skill level.”
There’s not a whole of ways to increase crit outside of lancer skills. So definitely an investment if you’re not a lancer.
Butttttt….:
Shinatobe, Wind Caller
Dragon lady!
“Ability Power 50. Heals HP and increases critical hit chance of all allies by 20% for 60 seconds. Added effect: Removes stat debuffs from all allies. Level bonus: Effect boosted by 5%, and Ability power boosted by 5 for each increase in Skill level”
40% crit chance at max level. 40%. And debuff removal. Always a bonus.
Crow Tengu
Biiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiird. Thing. Birdthing.
“Increases MDEF of all allies by 10% for 60 seconds. Added effect: Reduces damage taken by all allies to 0 for 1 time. Level bonus: Effect boosted by 10% for each increase in Skill level.”
He blocks the first hit you take after using him. If you’re lucky enough you can block a powerful hit, or maybe survive that enemy unision. But still, no other monster so far has a skill like this, so make sure to keep him.
Now here’s where people are going to get mad at me. Peliasa and Nereusa are not good subs for him. If you’re going to use those two, you may as well chose another monster entirely. Yes, they are cheaper than other SSRS. Yes, they have better stats. But you’re only getting about 330-350 for the stats, for 2 less cost. Compared to getting about 800-900 to switching it to a higher cost SSR. However, Tengu is still much easier to get, and isn’t crap compared to other monsters of its rarity. If A-team gives them a decent UR my opinion may change, but otherwise I don’t recommend replacing him with them.
Extremely worthwhile buff monsters:
Physoth, Sacred Beast
Second SR monster I got from Rare Spawn, used him since I got him at like level 10.
“Ability Power 110. Damages all enemies with magic light damage. Added effect: Increases DEF and MATK of all allies by 10% for 50 seconds. Level bonus: Added effect boosted by 10%, and Ability Power boosted by 10 for each increase in Skill level.”
Really good considering that it’s more gear towards casters and deals damage magic damage. Good overall pick.
Firedrake Ignis
Big toothy grin…. Shouldn’t a dragons teeth be sharper? He’s got this rich white guy grin going on. Metus and Phsyoth has more of a dragon face than he does.
“Ability Power 110. Damages all enemies with physical fire damage. Added effect: Reduces target's ATK/DEF by 10% for 50 seconds. Level bonus: Added effect boosted by 10%, and Ability Power boosted by 10 for each increase in Skill level.”
Great choice if you’re a lancer stuck against other lancers.
Fenrir
Puppy!
"Ability Power 110. Damages all enemies with magic water damage. Added effect: Reduces target's DEF/MDEF by 10% for 50 seconds. Level bonus: Added effect boosted by 10%, and Ability Power boosted by 10 for each increase in Skill level. "
I've noticed a trend where monsters buff/debuff they stats they have.
Lilith
Love the hot pink hair.
“Ability Power 120. Damages all enemies with magic dark damage. Added effect: Reduces all stats and status ailment resistance of all enemies by 10% for 60 seconds. Level bonus: Added effect boosted by 10%, and Ability Power boosted by 10 for each increase in Skill level.”
If you get her, love her forever. That is a 50% decrease to ATK, MATK, DEF, MDEF and Status resistance to all enemies at max level.
Valkyrie
Flip side to the hot pink hair.
“Increases stats of all allies by 10% for 120 seconds. Added effect: Ability Power 40. Heals HP of all allies. Level bonus: Effect boosted by 5% for each increase in Skill level.”
Great in almost all parties, increase all your stats by 50% and it heals. Surprisingly heals the same as Mermaid at UR.
Metus, Evil Drake
Surprisingly haven’t seen much use of him.
“Ability Power 110. Damages all enemies with magic dark damage. Added effect: Reduces MATK/MDEF of target by 10% for 50 seconds. Level Bonus: Added effect boosted by 10%, and Ability Power boosted by 10 for each increase in skill level.”
If you see yourself proccing a lot of Reduce Magic Damage start using this guy.
I'll keep updating this as more monsters get added.
Please send me critiques and tips on how I can improve.
And as some of you may have noticed I didn't include poison or pure damage monsters. That's because I 1. Don't understand quite how poison damage works just yet in the game, and 2. Don't see how any needs some pointing out on any of the damage only monsters.
And also send a lot of love to the Unison League wikia (http://unisonleague.wikia.com/wiki/Unison_League_Wikia), where I got the images from and was saved a lot of typing. Seriously, it send it love, it needs a lot of since we're missing a lot of images and stats.
